Each unit in the series is compatible with both ASA and Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) software, and can be configured for use as a firewall or a dedicated intrusion prevention system (IPS). Additionally, the series supports Q-in-Q (stacked VLAN) configurations, enabling up to two 802.1Q headers per packet—ideal for complex network segmentation and monitoring.
