Precision Time Protocol (PTP)
Precision Time Protocol (PTP) is a networking standard used to synchronise clocks across devices with high accuracy, which is critical for AV applications that require precise timing. The EAV-XG-24-PoE supports three PTP clock modes:

• Grandmaster (GM): Acts as the primary time source for the network, synchronised to a GPS clock source connected to the SMA port.
• Boundary Clock (BC): Receives timing from a grandmaster and distributes it to downstream devices.
• Transparent Clock (TC): Forwards PTP messages while correcting for the time spent traversing the switch.

Sub-Microsecond Synchronisation
With precise timing in place, the EAV-XG-24-PoE delivers synchronisation at a level that eliminates human-perceptible delay. Whether your endpoints are all on a single EAV switch, or whether you need an entire nested topology of EAV switches, clocking remains consistent.
