About Cisco Firepower 3100 Series Network Expansion Modules
The Cisco Secure Firewall 3100 Series (3105, 3110, 3120, 3130, and 3140) features one network module (NetMod) bay on the front panel. This allows you to expand your interface density and scale your uplink speeds without upgrading the entire chassis.
However, compatibility varies across the range: the 3105, 3110, and 3120 max out at 10G expansion speeds, while the higher-end 3130 and 3140 support up to 40G and 100G modules.
Standard Dynamic Expansion Modules
These modules provide standard data interfaces to expand your architecture for high-capacity demilitarized zones (DMZs), internal segmentation, or high-speed core uplinks.
