About This Product
The Catalyst 9500 Series switches are equipped with up to five variable-speed fans that are field-replaceable. These fans are designed for front-to-back airflow and can continue operating even if one fan fails. The fan trays support Online Insertion and Removal (OIR) and can reach speeds of up to 24,000 RPM.
In contrast, the Catalyst 9500X models come with six field-replaceable, variable-speed fan modules. By default, these fans are configured for front-to-back airflow (intake from the port side). However, users have the flexibility to install fans with back-to-front airflow (exhaust from the port side), enabling reversible airflow configurations. This design allows the switch to dynamically align fan and power supply airflow directions based on cooling preferences.
